Max Homa Achieves Hole-in-One at the Rocket Mortgage Classic

Max Homa showcased his exceptional skills at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, coming close to securing the top spot on the leaderboard during the final round held at the Detroit Golf Club over the weekend.

During the par 3 15th hole, Homa found himself approximately 140 yards away from the pin. With a swift swing, his shot landed on the green, taking a few bounces before gracefully rolling into the cup for a magnificent hole-in-one. His joy was evident as he celebrated with his fellow golfers.

This remarkable achievement marked Homa’s second ace on the PGA Tour, contributing to his impressive performance of a final round score of 67 and finishing the tournament at 15-under par. Throughout the round, he secured five birdies and endured two bogeys.

In a post-game interview, Homa humbly admitted that he couldn’t see the shot go in. Reflecting on his mindset, he shared, “I struggled with my mid-range putts all week, so I decided to aim closer to the hole. It was a perfect pitching wedge shot. If it landed short, I anticipated it skipping forward. And if it landed where it did, I knew it would be close. I made a solid swing, but unfortunately, I couldn’t see it go in. I’ve now made two aces on the tour, and I haven’t been able to witness either. One day, I hope to actually see it happen. Nonetheless, it was incredible to hear the crowd’s roar, especially on that iconic hole. It was a memorable experience.”

Despite his remarkable shot, Homa’s efforts were not enough to propel him higher up the leaderboard, ultimately finishing tied for 21st place. The playoff battle for first place was won by Rickie Fowler, who outperformed Collin Morikawa and Adam Hadwin. Each golfer concluded the tournament at an impressive 24-under par. Fowler’s final round score of 68 secured him victory, while Morikawa finished with a remarkable 64 and Hadwin with a commendable 67.

Fowler’s triumph at the Rocket Mortgage Classic marked his first PGA Tour win since the Waste Management Phoenix Open in 2019, adding to his collection of six career victories.

As the tournament concluded, Max Homa’s extraordinary shot and the electrifying competition left spectators in awe, further cementing the excitement and passion that surrounds the world of professional golf.
