December 20, 2024: “Thunderbolts”
“According to Feige, the MCU is entering a world without the Avengers, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be a group of superheroes,” said during the D23 Expo while discussing the next “Captain America” film.
The upcoming movie, titled “Thunderbolts,” will feature a diverse group of antiheroes. These characters have been introduced in various movies and Disney+ shows. The cast includes Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), US Agent (Wyatt Russell), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), Red Guardian (David Harbour), Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), and Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh). Marvel fans may see them as the equivalent of DC’s Suicide Squad.
Wyatt Russell humorously expressed his excitement about returning to the MCU, stating, “It’s good to be back. I’m as excited as the most boring Avenger.”
Sebastian Stan, reflecting on his character’s past struggles with PTSD, commented, “They look like a good, troubled bunch and maybe I know a thing or two about that” regarding Bucky joining a new group.
Feige added, “When the Winter Soldier, a beloved character, is viewed as the most stable among them, it gives you an idea of what the Thunderbolts are all about.”
