The Seattle Mariners’ outfielder, Julio Rodríguez, continues to impress with his performance at the plate. In Sunday’s game against the Houston Astros, Rodríguez opened the contest with a double, extending his streak of 18 hits in five games.
In Saturday’s matchup, a 10-3 victory for the Mariners, Rodríguez made history by recording four hits. This achievement gave him a total of 17 hits in four games, surpassing Milt Stock’s record of 16 hits in as many games set in 1925. Rodríguez’s impressive streak also marked his fourth consecutive game with four hits.
When asked about his record-breaking performance, the young star remarked, “Honestly, I knew when they put it on the scoreboard that I had set a record for a four-game span. Before that, I didn’t know.”
Mariners’ manager Scott Servais commended Rodríguez’s exceptional performance, stating, “I’ve never seen anything like it. Nobody in the history of Major League Baseball has seen anything like it. But what can you say? Julio is just smoking hot right now.”

On the season, he has a batting average of .278 with 21 home runs and 33 stolen bases.
With a recent 13-3 stretch, the Mariners currently hold the third and final wild-card spot in the American League, leading the Toronto Blue Jays by half a game.
Rodríguez was selected for his second All-Star game this summer, which took place in his team’s home stadium in Seattle. He also participated in his second consecutive Home Run Derby, setting a record with 41 home runs in the first round.
