Man’s Loss of Precious Possession Sparks Drama as South Carolina Beachgoer Resorts to Metal Detector

A man in South Carolina had a scare when he temporarily misplaced the engagement ring he had been carrying for a beach proposal. The man, whose identity has not been revealed, organized a couple’s photo shoot in Myrtle Beach, planning to surprise his partner with a marriage proposal on July 1. He had traveled from Tennessee specifically for this occasion. After realizing he had lost the ring, he approached a patrolman from the Myrtle Beach Police Department named John Lively. Lively joined forces with officers Sean Owens and Zachary Stashick, and together they searched the locations where the couple had taken their photos. Patrolman Shon McCluskey and K9 Goggles were also recruited, but unfortunately, they had no success in finding the ring. Fortunately, a local community member with a metal detector came to assist with the search. Shortly after helping out, the metal detector successfully located the lost ring. The ring was promptly returned to the man, and the proposal continued as planned. The Myrtle Beach Police Department extended their well wishes to the couple and emphasized the community’s willingness to help others. The story has garnered a considerable response on Facebook, with many users congratulating the couple and praising the efforts of those involved in the search. While beach proposals have become popular, wedding experts advise caution when traveling with valuable jewelry such as engagement rings. It is advisable to insure the ring before traveling and consider the destination’s activities and environment. Beaches, oceans, and pools should be avoided as they increase the risk of damage or loss. Chlorine water is especially harmful to metals like platinum and gold.
