In a shocking incident on Friday, a male passenger was stabbed on a Metro A (Blue) Line train close to the Southwest Museum Station in Highland Park.
The Los Angeles Police Department received a distress call regarding a stabbing around 12:45 p.m. The incident took place in the 4500 block of Marmion Way, near West Avenue 45. Promptly, officers rushed to the scene to investigate.
The victim, described as being in his 30s or 40s, was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, the current condition of the victim is unknown at this time.
The suspect, also in his 30s or 40s, was last spotted leaving the station on foot in a northerly direction. Witnesses reported that he was carrying a black backpack.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, train service at the station was temporarily suspended. However, Metro was quick to arrange shuttle buses for the convenience of passengers traveling through the area. Thankfully, the normal service was restored shortly before 5 p.m.
Following the incident, Metro expressed their dismay and concern, emphasizing that safety has always been their highest priority. They explained that their comprehensive safety measures have successfully led to a 54% reduction in overall crime since April 2023.
