A man from Fullerton in Orange County has pleaded guilty to a gang-related shooting incident in Anaheim that resulted in the death of one individual and the injury of another three years ago.
Dominick Sanchez, aged 29, pleaded guilty to one count of attempted murder and is set to be sentenced on September 29th in the North Justice Center in Fullerton.
Jacob Antunez, the co-defendant who is now 26 years old, previously pleaded guilty on July 14th to a felony count of discharging a firearm at an inhabited dwelling. His sentencing is scheduled for September 8th, also at the North Justice Center in Fullerton.
Another individual, Jacob Nolasco, aged 29, has been charged with murder, attempted murder, discharge of a firearm at an inhabited dwelling, and participating in gang activity. He faces sentencing enhancements for gang activity and discharge of a gun causing great bodily injury or death.
The charges stem from the fatal shooting of 28-year-old Edwin Richard Ramirez-Hernandez and the injury of another unidentified man in Anaheim. The incident occurred at the intersection of Citron Street and Bellevue Drive around 12:30 a.m. on August 15, 2020.
While the police believe that the defendants targeted the victims based on their belief that they were rival gang members, there is no evidence to suggest that the victims had any gang affiliations.
