Madonna received praise over the weekend for the support she received from her friends and family after being hospitalized with a bacterial infection, which led to the postponement of her tour.
“Love from family and friends is the best medicine,” wrote the 64-year-old singer on Instagram.
“As a mother, you can truly get caught up in the needs of your children and the seemingly endless giving… But when the chips were down, my children really showed up for me,” Madonna continued. “I saw a side of them I had never seen before. It made all the difference. So did the love and support from my friends.”
Earlier this month, the Grammy-winning icon, known for hits like “Like a Prayer” and “Material Girl,” stated that she was on the road to recovery.
The illness forced Madonna to postpone her nearly sold-out, 84-date “Celebration” tour, which was originally scheduled to begin on July 15.
She plans to proceed with the European leg of her tour starting on October 14 in London, with the rescheduled US shows to be announced at a later date.
Touring company Live Nation will release a new tour calendar.
“Thank you to all my angels who protected me and let me stay to finish doing my work!” Madonna expressed her gratitude.
