The LA Pride weekend is set to kick off with a bang, offering three days of festivities for the LGBTQ+ community and its supporters. The LA Pride in the Park festival will open on Friday at the Los Angeles State Historic Park, with music headliners Megan Thee Stallion and Mariah Carey. The festival will feature food and drink vendors, LGBTQ+ exhibitors, merchandise sales, a “sober community” area, and an “Erotic City” for the leather community. Gerald Garth, board president of LA Pride, says that these “empowering and iconic women” are the perfect choice for the festival headliners.
Friday night will see Megan Thee Stallion headline the festival with other performers throughout the day and evening. A social media sensation, Megan Thee Stallion gained fame after the release of her song “Savage” that topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Mariah Carey will headline on Saturday, offering her extraordinary vocal range that has made her one of the best-selling pop artists of all times.
General and VIP single-day and weekend tickets for the festival are available ranging from $69 to $549 on the LA Pride website. The weekend festivities will culminate with the LA Pride Parade on Sunday, starting at Sunset Boulevard and Highland Avenue in Hollywood and ending at Cahuenga to Sunset. The parade will honor comedian Margaret Cho as the “Icon Grand Marshal” of the event and the late actor Leslie Jordan as the “Legacy Grand Marshal” with a new designation to celebrate those who have made significant contributions to the community after they have passed on. Singer-actress Janelle Monáe will be joining the ACLU contingent in the parade, and afterwards, the revelry will continue at LA Pride Village along Hollywood Boulevard. The celebratory event will include 90 vendors, two stages of live entertainment, food, drinks, and more, with the village open till 8 p.m.
