Legit Status Claims Victory at World Hip Hop Dance Championship 2023

Legit Status dance crew, under the leadership of Alexis Nickole B. Enciso, emerged as the champions in the recently held 2023 World Hip Hop Dance Championship in Phoenix, Arizona.

Out of 54 competing dance groups, Legit Status came out on top in the MegaCrew division, showcasing their exceptional talent and beating their competitors on August 6.

Sharing her excitement over their win, Enciso took to her Instagram page on August 10 to recount their journey and proudly display photos of the World Hip Hop Dance Championships medal and trophy.

In her post, Enciso exclaimed, “WORLD CHAMPION BABYYY,” expressing her overwhelming joy and gratitude.

This victory left Enciso “absolutely speechless.”

She further shared, “I still can’t find the right words to describe how grateful I am to be a part of this milestone with Legit. This was once just a dream of mine, which makes it even more surreal. WORLD CHAMPS!!!!!”

Enciso expressed her heartfelt appreciation to her teammates, acknowledging that the journey leading up to this moment was not easy, but truly remarkable.

“I have learned so much and couldn’t have gone through these past 11 months with anyone else but all of you. I love this family so much,” she said, extending her gratitude to Coach Vimi and Coach Shayna for their unwavering support, belief in her, and constant encouragement to strive for better every day.

Enciso also expressed her gratitude to her family, friends, and everyone who supported her throughout this journey, serving as her inspiration and constantly checking up on her.

“Your love and support have been instrumental in bringing me to this point. I wouldn’t have achieved this without you,” she declared.

She ended her message by saying, “This has been 14 years in the making! 11 months for 4 minutes! I LOVE YOU @legitstatusph BEST IN THE WORLD!”

During the finals, Legit Status delivered a captivating four-minute performance, showcasing various dance techniques and securing first place in the competition’s preliminaries. They achieved a score of 7.98 with a 0.32 lead over the next contenders.

In the semifinal round, the group maintained a solid score of 7.86, reducing the gap between them and the next dance troupe to 0.15.

Proudly representing the Philippines, Legit Status also sang the Philippine National Anthem in front of the audience.

Two other Filipino dance groups also excelled in the competition—UP Streetdance Club placed third in the MegaCrew division, while HQ emerged victorious in the Adult division.

Enciso’s parents, Alvin and Astrid Enciso, congratulated their daughter for her incredible achievement, expressing their pride and excitement for her journey.

Alvin Enciso said, “Congratulations to Legit Status and my Alexis. You are a source of pride for our country! Alexis, we are thrilled to see you reach your dreams and pursue your passion. Our little girl has grown up, and we can’t wait to see the heights you will conquer. We are with you every step of the way.”

Enciso is currently studying industrial engineering at De La Salle University in Manila.
