Although Kobe Bryant may not have been a rockstar or Grammy-winning songwriter, he was a respected figure in his own field who greatly admired Swift’s work ethic and “sweet” personality.

During an interview on “The Jordan Harbinger Show” in 2019, the late NBA star openly expressed his admiration for Swift.

“I believe it’s important to listen to people who achieve great things,” Bryant said. “Taylor has continuously dominated the industry for a significant amount of time.”

“Following up a No. 1 album with an even better album is an immense pressure,” he continued. “Regardless of whether you enjoy her music or not, look at what she’s accomplished. It’s awe-inspiring. I try to learn from her as much as I can.”

He added, “You can’t achieve that level of consistent success without being an extraordinary talent. It’s simply impossible.”

The former Lakers player also praised Swift’s kindness towards his daughters, stating, “She was always kind to my girls even before she became the Taylor Swift we know today. That’s why I’ll always be there for her if she needs anything.”

Bryant had previously surprised Swift during the 1989 Tour by presenting her with a championship banner, commemorating her 16 sold-out shows at LA’s Staples Center (now known as Crypto.com Arena).
