NFL legend Joe Montana expressed his condolences to the family of Senator Dianne Feinstein, who passed away at the age of 90.
In a statement, Montana reflected on his friendship with Feinstein during her time as mayor of San Francisco and after.
“Jennifer and I are deeply saddened by the news of Senator Dianne Feinstein’s passing. She served as mayor of San Francisco when I won my first Super Bowl, and she and her husband became close friends of ours over the years.

“Our hearts go out to her family and friends as we mourn this loss with them.”
Feinstein had been dealing with health issues for over a year. She was present in the Senate on Wednesday and cast a vote at 11:45 a.m., according to the congressional record.
The cause of her death has not been announced.
“Sadly, Senator Feinstein passed away last night at her home in Washington, D.C. Her passing is a profound loss for so many, from those who loved and cared for her to the people of California whom she dedicated her life to serving,” said Feinstein’s chief of staff, James Sauls.
