  • “I cherish all our memories in my heart, where they will be kept safe and never forgotten,” Michele expressed.

Lea Michele is paying homage to her former boyfriend and “Glee” co-star Cory Monteith on the 10th anniversary of his passing.

In an emotional tribute shared on Instagram, Michele posted a black-and-white photo of herself and Monteith during their time on “Glee,” accompanied by a heartfelt message directed at the late actor.

“Hey you. It’s been 10 years. Sometimes it feels like just yesterday that you were here, and other times it feels like a million years ago,” Michele wrote. “I keep all our memories in my heart, where they will remain safe and forever cherished. We miss you every day and will never forget the light you brought into our lives. I miss you, big guy.”

Referencing the passing of Foo Fighters’ drummer Taylor Hawkins in 2022, Michele added, “I hope you’ve reunited with Taylor up there and are playing the drums together.”

Monteith tragically passed away on July 13, 2013, at the age of 31 due to an accidental overdose of drugs and alcohol.

Michele and Monteith, who portrayed the characters Rachel Berry and Finn Hudson on the popular TV show “Glee,” were in a relationship off-screen from August 2012 until his untimely death.

After a brief hiatus, “Glee” produced a tribute episode for Monteith and his character titled “The Quarterback.” However, showrunner Ryan Murphy admitted in November 2022 that he would have handled the situation differently in hindsight.

“I felt that it was too raw and premature,” Murphy shared on the “That’s What You Really Missed” podcast with “Glee” stars Kevin McHale and Jenna Ushkowitz. “If I had the chance to do it over knowing what I know now, I probably would’ve said, ‘Let’s take a year off and reassess.’ But when it happened, our hearts were shattered. The spirit and joy were gone.”

Michele went on to marry businessman Zandy Reich in 2018, and the couple welcomed their son, Ever Leo, on August 20, 2020.
