Lawyers Propose Kohberger’s Alibi, Suggest Innocence

Bryan Kohberger, the defendant in the upcoming trial for the murders of four University of Idaho students, has chosen not to provide a pretrial alibi. However, his defense attorneys have hinted that evidence will be presented showing he was elsewhere during the time of the killings. Kohberger, who has pleaded not guilty, is set to go on trial in October. Attorney Anne Taylor stated in a recent filing that evidence supporting Kohberger’s absence from the King Road address will be revealed in accordance with discovery and evidentiary rules, as well as statutory requirements, as reported by CNN.

The court filing did not disclose where Kohberger was at the time of the murders. It did, however, mention that Kohberger, who was studying criminology at Washington State University before his arrest, has invoked his right to remain silent regarding the state’s request for a pretrial alibi. The Idaho Statesman reports that Kohberger has the option to testify in his own defense during the trial. Prosecutors have stated their intention to seek the death penalty if Kohberger is found guilty.
