Around 200 former passengers may join a class-action lawsuit against Carnival cruises following a norovirus outbreak that led to widespread vomiting and diarrhea.

Julie McLean-Phillips represents a large group of passengers who traveled on the Sun Princess ship during any of the eight P&O cruises between December 2016 and February 2017.

She fell ill after embarking on a 13-night cruise from Fremantle in Western Australia on December 5, 2016.

Ms. McLean-Phillips expected a ‘relaxing and pleasurable cruise’ but ended up spending most of her time confined to her cabin with her sick sister.

Both women suffered from ‘uncontrollable vomiting’, ‘explosive diarrhea’, and difficulty walking on their own.

Ms. McLean-Phillips was not offered alternate accommodation when her sister fell ill a few days after departure.
