A woman flew 3,000 miles to attend a wedding in Scotland, but ended up mistakenly arriving at the wrong reception. Surprisingly, the bride and groom, Caitlin and Stephen, graciously welcomed her and invited her in for a drink despite being complete strangers.

Arti Mala, the founder of First Seed Foods, a vegan food brand, shared this story on TikTok. Her video, titled “POV: You traveled >3,000 miles and accidentally showed up to the wrong wedding,” has gained nearly half a million views.

The video captures the moment when Mala realizes her mix-up as she encounters two men in kilts and a bride in a white dress, the wedding party of the reception she wasn’t invited to. She expresses her gratitude to Caitlin and Stephen for their hospitality in the caption of her post.

In a follow-up TikTok shared a couple of days later, Mala explains that the mix-up was particularly unfortunate because she was supposed to be the unofficial videographer at the wedding she intended to attend.

Despite the confusion, Mala managed to attend the ceremony of the correct wedding, which was a cross-cultural event showcasing English, Punjabi, and Scottish heritage. However, when she returned to her Airbnb to change before the reception, she misjudged the timing and ended up at the wrong venue, about 25 minutes away from where she was supposed to be.

Realizing her mistake upon seeing the wedding sign, Mala attempted to call an Uber to the correct venue. However, before she could leave, she was approached by the bride’s brother, the groom, and the bride herself, who kindly invited her to stay and have a drink.

Mala, still determined to make it to the right reception, eventually arrived but missed the entrance and the wedding speeches. Despite the mix-up, the bride and groom of the correct wedding were understanding and easygoing.

The only person who initially seemed upset was the father of the bride, but Mala was able to make amends with him later in the evening over drinks.

In summary, although the day started with an insane mix-up, it turned into a magical and memorable evening for Mala.
