Kourtney Kardashian finds Halloween costume inspiration close to home, channeling her younger sister Kim’s iconic look from the 2013 Met Gala.
In a recent Instagram post, the 44-year-old reality star, who is currently pregnant with her first child with husband Travis Barker, shared a photo carousel of herself wearing the floral Givenchy gown that Kim, 43, wore to the star-studded event. Kourtney, styled in a sleek ponytail like her sister, completed the look with platform sandals.
The caption for Kourtney’s post read, “Freaky Friday.” Kim also reposted the outfit on her own Instagram Stories, adding a series of clapping emojis.
The Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, often referred to as “fashion’s biggest night out,” is known for its celebrity-filled red carpet. The 2013 gala, with the theme “PUNK: Chaos to Couture,” featured Kim and then-boyfriend Kanye West as attendees. Kim, who was pregnant with their daughter North West at the time, wore the Givenchy gown, while Kanye opted for a traditional tuxedo.
Kourtney’s costume choice is particularly intriguing considering the recent tension between her and Kim, which was revealed on their Hulu series, The Kardashian. The drama dates back to Season 3 of the show, when Kourtney accused Kim of using her wedding in May 2022, styled by Dolce & Gabbana, as an opportunity to establish a business partnership with the fashion house. Following the wedding, Kim was asked to creative direct Dolce & Gabbana’s show at Milan Fashion Week.
“While we were at our wedding, I guess Kim was having these conversations with Dolce that I didn’t know about,” Kourtney shared with her husband Barker on the show. She expressed feeling hurt that her sister prioritized money over their relationship.
Kim, initially surprised that Kourtney was bothered by the partnership, later accused Kourtney in a July episode of copying her 2014 wedding to West. She pointed out that both weddings were held in Italy and featured Andrea Bocelli as a performer.
The tension between the sisters escalated in the Season 4 premiere, with a heated phone call where Kourtney referred to Kim as a “witch” and expressed her hatred towards her. Kim retaliated by telling Kourtney that her children often come to her with problems related to their mother.
Despite their conflicts, it appears that the sisters have found some peace. In an episode that aired on October 12, Kim shared a text message from Kourtney containing a photo of their father, Robert Kardashian, during his college years. Kim saw it as a positive step towards moving past the drama. She stated that she wants her sister to be present in her life.
Last week, on Kim’s birthday, Kourtney further showcased the progress in their relationship. In an Instagram post, she directly expressed her love for her sister and wished her a year filled with love, happiness, and abundant joy.
