Kennedy interviews Dana Perino in quick-fire Q&A session

You may have seen us on screen, but have you ever wondered what we’re like when the cameras aren’t rolling? Over the past few months, I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know some of your favorite Fox personalities on a deeper level. From Jesse Watters’ must-have item to Bill Hemmer’s favorite Halloween costume, and even the contents of Greg Gutfeld’s nightstand, we’ve uncovered some interesting facts. But that’s not all! The excitement is just beginning.

This week, we’re turning the spotlight on Kennedy. She joined FOX Business Network as a contributor in 2012 and recently hosted the primetime program “Kennedy” until June 2023. You can catch her frequently on shows like “Outnumbered” and “The Five,” as well as various daytime and primetime programming. Plus, she hosts a podcast called “Kennedy Saves the World” on FOX News Audio.

But wait, there’s more! We have plenty of surprises in store for you. Make sure to tune in each week for new editions of “Short Questions with Dana Perino.” And if you have any burning questions or suggestions for future interviews, don’t hesitate to leave a comment below.

During Dana Perino’s interview with Kennedy, she spills the beans on her signature cocktail, the career opportunity that changed her life, and the artist who has made the biggest impact on her. Get ready for some intriguing insights.

Q: What is something every woman should try at least once in her life?
K: Witnessing the sunrise in Africa. It’s an experience that transforms your soul and connects you to the earth in an indescribable way.

Q: Can you share your signature cocktail?
K: I present to you the Kennedalia! It’s a delightful blend of a mojito and a paloma. Start by muddling lime and mint in a tumbler, then add ice. Next, pour in 1.5 ounces of coconut tequila and 1 ounce of regular tequila (I recommend casamigos blanco). Finally, top it off with either Fresca or pamplemousse La Croix. Be warned, this drink is deceptively smooth, so make sure you have a designated rickshaw driver to get you home safely.

Q: Do you have a secret party trick? Or any tips for throwing a great party?
K: One trick I swear by is separating the drink station from the food station. People tend to congregate around the drinks, so allocate the most spacious part of your party space for that area. Additionally, make sure you have three distinct food servings: niblets for when guests arrive, a proper meal, and something like buffalo chicken nachos later in the evening to satisfy the late-night hunger. Prepare as much as you can in advance so you can enjoy mingling with your guests.

Q: If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three items would you want to have?
K: I’d definitely need a knife for survival purposes, a tarp for shelter, and a reliable water filtration device.

Q: Describe a moment or opportunity that changed your life.
K: When I was an intern at KROQ, I relentlessly pursued our program director Andy to give me a chance on the radio despite having no experience. Eventually, he called my bluff and gave me a two-night audition. That led to being hired for part-time overnights and marked the beginning of my broadcasting career. Andy is still one of my best friends to this day.

Q: Who is your favorite comedian?
K: As a kid, I was obsessed with Steve Martin, although I always worried about his age because he had white hair. It was a dream come true when I got to meet him at a party years later and share my concerns. He actually found it amusing and reassured me that he’s still very much alive.

Q: You’re a dog lover. If you were a dog, what breed would you choose to be?
K: I would be a blue heeler. They’re cool, sturdy, and intelligent. Plus, being from Australia, I have a soft spot for them.

Q: Which artist or band has had the biggest impact on your life, and why?
K: After visiting Graceland recently, I was reminded of how much Elvis influenced me during my high school years. His showmanship left a lasting mark on the world of entertainment. Ella Fitzgerald is another favorite of mine. Even my beloved band, Rocket From The Crypt, draws stylistic influence from Elvis. The art of turning poems into songs is something I deeply admire, making these artists truly exceptional.

Q: What is your worst dating experience?
K: When I was 20, I went on a date with Screech from “Saved By The Bell” for a magazine story. He took me to a place at Universal City that served him margaritas, and he tried to make out with me near the Hollywood sign. Needless to say, I politely declined.

Q: As a child, what did you aspire to be when you grew up?
K: I always dreamed of becoming a writer and a comedian. In high school, my classmates even voted me as “most likely to be a talk show host.”

Q: If you could have a roundtable discussion on your show with three musicians or music industry figures, who would you choose and what would you discuss?
K: I would invite James Mercer, Gillian Welch, and Bob Dylan for a conversation about the process of turning poems into songs. To me, there is no higher form of artistry when done effectively.

Q: What is something about you that would surprise people?
K: Despite my energetic on-screen persona, I’m actually very calm. I’m also quite skilled in the kitchen, both as a cook and baker. Although, I must admit, I tend to swear a lot while baking. It’s my secret ingredient for success.

Q: If you had to create a soundtrack for your life, what songs would be on it and why?
K: Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way,” Rocket From The Crypt’s “Young Livers,” and Prince’s “I Would Die 4 U” would undoubtedly make the cut. These songs bring me immense joy, and they are the common thread that ties my life together.
