She then experienced intense chest pain and was taken to A&E for tests. Derek was diagnosed with COVID-19 in March 2020 and was in a life-threatening condition, spending 13 months in the hospital. He has since had complications and relies on a wheelchair. Doctors are now monitoring Garraway’s chest pain to determine if it was stress-related angina. Last week, Garraway provided an update on Derek’s progress, stating that there has been no significant improvement. She also recalled an incident at the airport where Derek became trapped between passport gates, highlighting the challenges faced by disabled individuals. Additionally, Garraway spoke about Sir Elton John’s tribute to Derek during one of his farewell tour shows, describing it as a touching moment of connection.
