Jungkook of BTS Sets New Billboard Records Prior to Solo Debut

BTS’ Jungkook recently wowed fans with his electrifying performance at the “Yet To Come” concert in Busan in October 2022. But his success doesn’t stop there. As he prepares for his solo debut this month, he continues to break records on Billboard’s global charts.

In their latest chart release on Saturday, Billboard revealed that Jungkook’s collaboration with Charlie Puth, “Left And Right,” reached No. 179 on the Billboard Global US Exclusive chart after 38 weeks, solidifying Jungkook’s position as the K-pop singer with the longest streak on the chart. Additionally, his solo track “Euphoria” has also made waves, climbing to No. 6 on Billboard’s Digital Song Sales chart and holding the record as the longest-running song by a K-pop soloist on the chart.

The anticipation for Jungkook’s solo career has been building, especially after rumors of a new release surfaced in July. Big Hit Music, the agency representing BTS, recently confirmed that Jungkook will be releasing his first official solo single, “Seven,” on July 14. To further excite fans, the agency announced that Jungkook will be sharing his self-written songs, “Still With You” and “My You,” on July 3 via global music platforms. These two tracks were previously available for free on SoundCloud in 2020 and 2022, respectively.

The much-awaited music video for “Seven” is set to premiere at 1 p.m. on July 14, alongside the single. While there have been reports suggesting that actress Han So-hee may make an appearance in the music video, Big Hit Music has not provided any official comments on the matter.

In a livestream broadcast with fans, Jungkook revealed that he has also been working on a solo album. He expressed his desire to showcase his musical direction, vocal abilities, and unique style that he hasn’t been able to fully explore before.

Jungkook’s solo success is not new. Prior to his collaboration with Charlie Puth, he made an appearance on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with “Stay Alive,” a soundtrack for BTS’ web-comic series “7 Fates: Chakho.” In 2020, he also charted on the Hot 100 with his solo track “My Time” from BTS’ album “Map of the Soul: 7.” He further solidified his musical accomplishments by singing the official soundtrack for the 2020 FIFA World Cup, “Dreamers,” which reached the top of Billboard’s Digital Song Sales chart and topped the iTunes chart in 102 countries worldwide. Jungkook recently made history by becoming the fastest K-pop solo singer to achieve a billion streams on Spotify, earning him a Guinness World Record.

Jungkook’s talent and success as a solo artist continue to shine, proving that he can captivate audiences independently from his BTS counterparts. Fans eagerly await his solo debut and the exciting music that lies ahead.
