Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Julio UrÃas, who previously served a 20-game suspension for violating Major League Baseball’s domestic violence policy in 2019, has once again found himself in trouble, as he was arrested on suspicion of felony domestic violence, authorities announced Monday.
The talented 27-year-old starter, who led the National League in wins during the 2021 season and had the lowest earned run average in 2022, was taken into custody late Sunday and was released on $50,000 bond early Monday.
Specific details regarding the incident that led to his arrest have not yet been disclosed. However, the Los Angeles Police Department, who confirmed UrÃas’ arrest, was unable to provide further information at this time.
The Dodgers have not responded to requests for comment regarding the situation.
UrÃas, who currently has an 11-8 record this season with a 4.60 earned-run average, first joined the Dodgers in 2016 and has since proven himself as a valuable member of the team, achieving a lifetime record of 60-25 with an impressive 3.11 ERA.
In 2019, UrÃas was previously suspended by MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred for an incident that occurred in the parking lot of the Beverly Center on May 13th of that year. According to TMZ, a witness reported an argument between UrÃas and a woman, which resulted in him pushing her to the ground. However, when police arrived, the woman denied that any physical altercation had taken place and claimed it was merely a heated argument.
While UrÃas was initially arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery, no charges were ultimately filed.
