Marvel star Jonathan Majors began his long-awaited assault trial in New York City, where he is accused of attacking his former girlfriend. His girlfriend, Meagan Good, supported him in court. The allegation is that he slapped, twisted the arm of, and injured his girlfriend. The prosecutors assert that the girlfriend sustained minor head and neck injuries, including a cut to her ear and was treated at a hospital. However, Mr. Majors has pleaded not guilty to all charges. His lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, labeled the former girlfriend as a liar, and Mr. Majors filed a complaint against her in June, accusing her of attacking him. He faces up to one year in prison if found guilty.
Jury selection will begin at 10am EST on Thursday, following a court session where the judge instructed potential jurors not to research or watch any coverage of the case. Prior to this session, the judge cleared the courtroom of spectators in order for the lawyers to argue about the admissibility of a piece of evidence.
