Dave McCormick’s second run for a U.S. Senate seat from Pennsylvania was preceded by a lavish party at fashion designer Tory Burch’s Hamptons estate, attended by influential Wall Street figures and held to celebrate McCormick’s new book, “Superpower in Peril.” Among the notable guests were past and current executives from Goldman Sachs, including Lloyd Blankfein, Steven Mnuchin, and Gary Cohn, as well as other prominent figures from the finance industry.

According to insiders, many of the party attendees have privately expressed their intention to support McCormick’s bid against Democratic incumbent Sen. Bob Casey, either through campaign donations or fundraising efforts. Potential backers include Paul Singer, the president of Elliot Investment Management, and Steve Schwarzman, CEO of Blackstone.

McCormick officially announced his campaign against Casey in Pittsburgh. Singer and other wealthy donors are scheduled to have a strategy briefing supported by the pro-McCormick super PAC, Keystone Renewal.

This marks McCormick’s second Senate campaign, following his unsuccessful 2022 primary run against Democrat John Fetterman, which attracted significant financial support and spending. Experts predict that the battle between McCormick and Casey in 2024 could surpass previous election spending records due to the candidates’ financial resources and the competitive nature of the race in a presidential year.

Outside groups, such as the Senate Majority PAC and Americans for Prosperity Action, have already positioned themselves to spend heavily on the McCormick versus Casey race. The Pennsylvania Democratic Party has also released a video criticizing McCormick’s business record and his Connecticut residency.

In the midst of these political maneuvers, McCormick enjoyed the company of wealthy corporate leaders at Burch’s opulent Hamptons estate. The Westerly estate, spanning 15,000 square feet, is known for its grandeur and has hosted legendary social events. Burch paid approximately $16 million for the property.
