Joe Biden lies to survivors, turns tragedy in Hawaii into his own narrative

Last week, when President Biden made the announcement of his upcoming trip to Maui, The Post raised the question: Will he once again display inappropriate behavior towards family members and make the trip all about himself? If anyone foolishly took that bet, it’s time to pay up. Even by Joe’s already low standards, this trip turned out to be a complete disaster. Our tone-deaf commander-in-chief departs from the Lake Tahoe residence of a Democratic donor, does a quick flyover of the island, and promptly decides to return for vacation. Mission accomplished!

During his visit on the island, Biden merely points at some buildings destroyed by fire, awkwardly shakes hands with a few first responders, and puts on a facial expression that attempts to convey seriousness but instead resembles a stiff and lifeless demeanor. The Biden team even goes so far as to set up a presidential lectern amidst the rubble, which is already quite inappropriate, but they also bring along a tiny table for his water. Can’t have Joe Antoinette Biden going thirsty, right? We should probably count ourselves lucky that they didn’t bring a teleprompter, which explains why he stares at his speech the entire time.

And then, Biden decides that the best way to demonstrate his concern for Hawaii is to lie. Again. He fabricates a story about firefighters having to rush into his home’s flames to save his wife, Jill. But here’s the truth: it never happened. For years, Biden has exaggerated a minor kitchen fire into something akin to the Great Chicago Fire, despite his own praised Delaware department saying it was insignificant. The media tries to manipulate us by claiming that Biden’s retelling of this fire, or his insistence that his son Beau died in Iraq (when he actually died of cancer), connects with victims. The Washington Post even suggests that “Biden… has long been seen as uniquely adept at leading with empathy amid tragedies like this one.” But this is not empathy; it’s just pure ego. And it’s downright insulting.

A false image has been constructed around Joe Biden: the image of him as the great negotiator, the empathetic leader, and the epitome of composure. None of these things are true. Perhaps they never were. We can witness the truth with our own eyes.
