The media world was saddened to learn of the passing of acclaimed broadcast journalist Mike Enriquez at the age of 71. GMA, his long-time network, announced his death on their flagship news program, “24 Oras.” Enriquez had been the anchor for almost two decades before falling ill. Known as “Booma” in media circles, Enriquez would have celebrated his 72nd birthday on September 29, just one month after his passing. He is survived by his wife Lizabeth “Babes” Yumping. The cause of death was not mentioned in the newscast, but Enriquez had previously faced health issues, including a heart bypass procedure in 2018 and a kidney transplant in November 2021. As a distinguished television and radio newscaster, Enriquez was a pillar of GMA News. In addition to “24 Oras,” he also hosted the investigative docudrama show “Imbestigador.” He served as the head of GMA’s radio operations and later became a consultant after retiring. From covering elections and disasters to exposing crime, Enriquez became the voice of the people in their pursuit of justice and government accountability. He popularized catchphrases like “Excuse me po,” “Hindi namin kayo tatantanan,” “Naloko na!” and “Pasok!” that became trademarks of the former radio disc jockey known as “Baby Michael.”

Jeric Raval revealed that he has asked Aljur Abrenica, the boyfriend of his daughter AJ Raval, to marry the actress once he has resolved the legalities of his previous marriage to fellow actress Kylie Padilla. Raval shared this during an interview for “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” on August 23. “I told him, ‘You know, I only have three requests,'” Raval recalled. “First, my daughter is still young. Second, your mother-in-law is my friend. What will I say to her when we meet? She might think I am supporting you.’” Raval was referring to actor-turned-politician Robin Padilla, Kylie’s father and father of her two sons with Abrenica. Raval also mentioned that Abrenica should settle his first marriage’s legal matters first. “Third, I told him, ‘I want you to marry my daughter. Once you have everything settled and no more problems, marry my daughter,'” Jeric disclosed. During the interview, Raval admitted that he initially opposed AJ taking on sexy roles, which led her to keep her projects a secret from him. He recounted an instance when he pretended to answer a phone call during one of his daughter’s films just to leave the theater and skip the intimate scene. After more than a year of dating speculations, AJ and Abrenica made their relationship public on February 14. AJ later clarified that she and Abrenica only became romantically involved after his separation from Kylie.
Ogie Alcasid meets up with ‘kumare’ Kris Aquino

Ogie Alcasid expressed his joy after visiting and praying with his “dear kumare” Kris Aquino and her sons Josh and Bimby in the United States. The singer-songwriter, who is currently on his “KilaboTitos” North American tour with actor Ian Veneracion, shared a glimpse of their meeting on his Instagram page on August 30. Kris was notably absent from the photo. “Mare, I’m posting this to send my family’s love to you and your family,” he addressed Kris. “I’m happy that I was able to pray with you today and seek the Lord’s healing upon you. May the Lord bless and keep you and your family.” Kris, who is undergoing medical treatments in California for her five confirmed autoimmune diseases and possible sixth manifestation, had previously mentioned improvements in her blood tests. She emphasized that although she still has a “long way to go,” she is finally on the path to remission.
KC unfollows Kiko and Kakie on Instagram

Netizens were quick to notice that KC Concepcion unfollowed her stepfather, former Sen. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, and stepsister Frankie Pangilinan on Instagram. As of August 26, Pangilinan and Frankie are no longer among KC’s Instagram followers. In turn, KC’s name is missing from their list of people they follow. It is worth noting that KC appears to have deleted her Instagram posts dedicated to Kiko, including her Father’s Day greeting in June and his birthday greeting last August. In the now-deleted post, she said, “Happy Father’s Day dad, [Kiko Pangilinan]! Thank you for being present in so many of my milestones in life since you came into my world and married mom. I still wear the pearl necklace you gave me on your wedding day as a reminder of your love.” Meanwhile, Pangilinan celebrated his 60th birthday on August 24 with an intimate dinner attended by his wife Sharon Cuneta and their children Frankie, Miel, and Miguel. KC confirmed her decision to unfollow Pangilinan and Frankie a few days later, admitting that being part of a blended family is “complicated.” Despite this, she underscored her efforts to be a good daughter and sister.
Maine Mendoza’s new bob

Maine Mendoza has embraced a new chapter as a married woman by trading her long locks for a fresh, chin-length wavy bob that highlights her facial features. Mendoza took to her Instagram account on August 29 to showcase her new hairstyle, courtesy of hairstylist Celeste Tuviera, whom she considers her “ninang” or aunt. She also shared a glimpse of her salon visit in a separate post, showing how Tuviera brought her wavy bob to life. The “EAT” host tied the knot with actor-turned-politician Arjo Atayde on July 28 of this year, a significant date in their relationship. The celebrity couple recently returned from a trip to Switzerland, where Atayde attended the premiere of his film “Topakk” at the 76th Locarno Film Festival.
