Timothée Chalamet is set to make a splash in 2023 with multiple projects. He will reprise his role as Paul Atreides in Denis Villeneuve’s highly anticipated “Dune: Part Two” and take on the iconic character of Willy Wonka in Paul King’s musical prequel “Wonka.” Moreover, Chalamet has collaborated with Martin Scorsese on a captivating Bleu de Chanel commercial and is currently filming James Mangold’s Bob Dylan biopic “A Complete Unknown.”
Although the release of “Dune: Part Two” has been pushed to 2024 due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, Chalamet remains busy in 2023. However, this busyness is something the 27-year-old actor appreciates, as he dislikes being idle. In an exclusive cover story for GQ, Chalamet discusses his love for staying busy and reflects on how he struggled to slow down during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
Chalamet reveals that his minor role in Adam McKay’s satirical comedy “Don’t Look Up” required him to spend more time in quarantine than filming. When he traveled to Boston for the film in 2020, strict COVID protocols forced him to quarantine for 14 days. Once he finally arrived on set, he was full of energy and eager to work and interact with others again. However, his enthusiasm may have been overwhelming for some of his co-stars, including Jennifer Lawrence.
“By the time I got to set, I was buzzing,” Chalamet recalls. “That day was apparently the most annoying day of her life, working with me and Leo. I burst out of my room.”
Lawrence’s annoyance could have been heightened by the fact that she consumed marijuana on set to get into character. During the film’s promotional activities, she jokingly mentioned being a constant target for pranks due to her intoxicated state.
“I was a real target,” Lawrence laughs. “Everyone was messing with me… I guess it was because I was high. Easy to mess with.”
