When asked about her feelings towards Alwyn Uytingco after his split with her daughter Jennica, Jean Garcia admitted that she initially felt resentful and hopeful for a resolution. She revealed this during the press conference for her new teleserye “Maging Sino Ka Man.” However, she eventually chose to respect their decision and let go of any bitterness.
“At first, I was upset with Alwyn because I wanted them to work out their differences,” Garcia said. “Of course, it’s normal as a mother-in-law and as a mother of a daughter. But now, I’m not mad anymore. The anger is gone.”
She commended Jennica and Alwyn for trying to make their relationship work despite their differences. However, she believes that they are not meant for each other. Last August, Jennica confirmed that her annulment with Uytingco is ongoing, as they have been separated for some years. Their efforts to reconcile in October did not succeed.
Garcia’s advice to her daughter is to remain strong and keep her faith in the Lord, even in times of heartbreak. Despite their separation, she hopes that Jennica and Alwyn can remain on good terms for the sake of their two children, Athena and Severina. Although Garcia acknowledges that both parties may have made mistakes, she refrains from blaming either one entirely.
“If ever Alwyn messed up at some point in their relationship, I’m sure Jennica has her fair share of mistakes too,” Garcia said. “So, it’s the both of them. I don’t want to blame Alwyn for everything just because I’m Jennica’s mom. I just think they’re not meant to be together.”
