Is Mutya ng Pilipinas pageant expected to maintain its winning streak in Miss Tourism International and Miss Intercontinental contests?

Mutya ng Pilipinas, Iona Gibbs, has propelled the pageant to international success with two consecutive crowns this year. The organization has set its sights on maintaining this winning streak with two more titleholders competing in different contests in the last quarter of the year.

Annie Uson, the first Mutya queen to compete abroad, made history as the first Filipino woman to win the Miss Chinese International crown in Malaysia. Following her success, Shannon Robinson, the 2022 Mutya ng Pilipinas-Luzon, brought home the country’s first victory in the Miss Environment International pageant in India. Now, Jeanette Reyes is gearing up to compete in the 26th Miss Tourism International pageant, with Sabah, Malaysia serving as the host country in November. The Philippines hopes to secure its sixth victory in this prestigious event.

The Philippines holds the record as the most successful country in the Miss Tourism International pageant, with five previous winners. Notable Mutya ng Pilipinas queens have also been victorious in the same competition, including Aya Fernandez, who was proclaimed as Dreamgirl of the Year International in 2018, and Barbie Salvador-Muhlach, who was crowned Miss Tourism Cosmopolitan International in 2010.

Meanwhile, Iona Gibbs, the reigning Mutya ng Pilipinas, is preparing to compete for the Miss Intercontinental crown in Egypt. The international pageant is scheduled for December, and Gibbs aims to secure the country’s third victory in this esteemed competition. The Mutya ng Pilipinas organization recently announced that they have acquired the franchise for the Miss Intercontinental pageant, giving them the opportunity to send their queens to this global stage.

The organization’s Chairman, Fred Yuson, expressed his ambition for a “five-for-five” victory this year, with all five delegates winning their respective competitions. Arianna Kyla Padrid is the fifth queen and will represent the Philippines in the World Top Model contest, whose details are yet to be announced.

Mutya ng Pilipinas has also opened applications for its 2023 competition. For more information, interested individuals can visit the official social media pages of the pageant.
