An Iowa woman, Tammy Gordy, who lost her home to a tornado in 2001, plans to use her $2 million lottery winnings to finally complete her new house with luxurious features.
Gordy and her husband had been working on building a new house since their previous one was destroyed in the tornado. However, the project had been put on hold until Gordy recently discovered her winning Powerball numbers.
Overjoyed by the revelation, Tammy exclaimed, “I fell into my chair! I couldn’t see! There were all those zeroes! I was like, ‘Maybe I need my glasses.'” Her husband, Steve, also couldn’t believe their luck until they regained their senses.
Despite not being materialistic, Tammy, who works as a dietary aide at a local hospital, emphasized that using the winnings to complete their dream home was a priority after all these years.

Excited about the housebuilding process, Tammy exclaimed, “This is going to speed it up! And it’s going to go into better details! I’m talking a walk-in closet and a Jacuzzi tub! That’s what I’m talking about!”
Tammy won her prize through the Iowa Lottery’s mobile app. After discovering her win, she immediately took a few days off work and informed her boss about her incredible fortune.
She recalled, “I called my boss and told him that I needed to take Monday and Tuesday off because I won $2 million on the Powerball! And so he says, ‘Well, congratulations if you’re not April Foolin’ me!'”
Tammy’s four children, initially in disbelief, were amazed by their mom’s stroke of luck. Tammy assured that family remained the most important thing to them, and the newfound wealth would enable them to enjoy more activities together.
