A 37-year-old man, Greg Peter Sullivan of Cathedral City, pleaded guilty to a felony charge on Thursday after being found in possession of a stolen golf cart from Rancho Mirage. Sullivan was charged with one felony count each of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent and receiving a stolen vehicle. However, he pleaded guilty to one felony count of receiving a stolen vehicle at the Larson Justice Center in Indio, resulting in the dismissal of the other charge.
Following his guilty plea, Sullivan was immediately sentenced to nearly two years of formal probation, which will last until August 30, 2025. As part of his probation terms, he will have to spend 60 days in custody with the Riverside County Sheriffs Office, as stated in court records.
On August 18, deputies responded to a report of a stolen golf cart on Dinah Shore Drive around 7 a.m. The victim assisted in tracking down the location of the golf cart, which led them to a residence on Muirfield Way. The Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team and the Palm Desert sheriff’s station Burglary Suppression Unit collaborated in executing a search warrant at the location. During the search, the stolen cart was discovered inside the garage, along with Sullivan. Consequently, he was arrested and booked into the John J. Benoit Detention Center in Indio.
This incident marks Sullivan’s first felony conviction in Riverside County.
