Following the ongoing investigation, authorities have identified an 18-year-old young man, Matthew Hervey of Thousand Palms, who was tragically shot and killed at a house party in Indio. In addition, three other individuals were injured during the incident over the weekend.
Indio Police Department’s public information officer Benjamin Guitron reported that officers received multiple reports of gunshots in the area at around midnight on Saturday. As they were en route, more reports came in stating that victims had been shot at a house party on Napoli Street.
Upon arrival, four individuals were discovered with gunshot wounds. Sadly, Matthew Hervey was found unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene by Cal Fire personnel. The coroner’s office revealed that Hervey sustained his injuries at 12:16 a.m. and was pronounced dead at 12:23 a.m. on Saturday.
The other victims were transported to nearby hospitals and received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
Indio Police Major Crimes Unit and Street Crimes Unit Detectives have taken charge of the investigation due to its nature. As of now, it remains unclear what led to the incident and no information about the suspect(s) is available.
