Indio Apartments Shooting: Suspected Shooter Captured and Incarcerated Without Bail

An 18-year-old individual from Indio, known as Jacob Matthew Alvin Vargas, is currently being held without bail on suspicion of murder. The arrest was made by the Indio Police Department on Friday. The incident took place at the Monte Azul Apartments in Indio, California. On Friday morning at 12:48 a.m., authorities received reports of gunshots in the vicinity. Upon investigation, officers discovered a male adult with gunshot wounds inside one of the apartments. Despite the efforts of paramedics and firefighters, the victim was unable to be saved. The Riverside County Sheriff Department’s Coroner’s Bureau has yet to release the identity of the deceased.

The quick response of residents who heard the gunshots allowed officers to locate the apartment where the incident occurred. Subsequently, a homicide investigation was initiated. The following day, on Saturday, detectives identified Jacob Matthew Alvin Vargas as the suspect. He was apprehended at a location on Sunset Drive in Coachella with the assistance of the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office Gang Impact Team.
