‘India First’ may replace ‘America First’

Billionaire and co-founder of Infosys Technologies, Nandan Nilekani, believes that America’s willingness to accept talented immigrants makes it great. At CNN’s Asia Business Forum, Nilekani stressed that for the U.S. to remain competitive globally, it should remain open to overseas talent. Infosys, India’s second-largest outsourcing firm, employs a massive number of Indian workers through U.S. H-1B visas, and should the U.S. cut these, it could have a huge impact on Indian workers. Nilekani noted that Indian companies have helped the U.S. become more competitive, and a crackdown on visas could ultimately lead to more work being developed in India. Nilekani suggested that India’s large youth population is now investing more in India, and choosing to stay and solve India’s problems.
