Boeing

delivered 50 aircraft to customers in the previous month, which is a increase compared to 35 in April. However, it still trails behind Airbus in terms of deliveries this year, especially as the Paris Air Show approaches.

The deliveries included eight 787 Dreamliners. Boeing recently announced that the discovery of a new manufacturing flaw, the second one disclosed this year, will impact near-term deliveries of these wide-body planes. Despite this setback, there is high demand for these planes due to the recovery in international travel.

As of now, Boeing has delivered a total of 206 planes this year. In comparison, Airbus has handed over 244 planes in the first five months of the year. Both Boeing and Airbus have plans to increase production of new planes to meet the strong demand following the Covid pandemic.

Arlington, Virginia-based Boeing recorded gross orders of 69 planes in May, up from 34 in April. After accounting for 11 cancellations, the company sold a total of 58 planes, with the majority being 737 Max jets.

The Paris Air Show, set to begin on Monday, will provide an opportunity for Boeing, Airbus, and other aerospace manufacturers to meet with customers and potentially announce new orders. This will be the first in-person iteration of the event since before the pandemic.
