In This Moment’s Moment: Even More Spectacular Times Ahead

In This Moment is concluding its summer tour on Saturday with a co-headlining performance at the MVP Arena. It marks the culmination of the metal band’s most ambitious and high-profile run of shows to date, and lead vocalist Maria Brink is thrilled to wrap it up in her hometown of Albany.

Brink expressed, “In This Moment has reached the pinnacle of its career. This tour has been remarkable for us, as it’s our first headlining tour in arenas. We have the opportunity to incorporate pyrotechnics and elevate our performance on a much grander scale.”

“It’s incredibly special to end the tour in Albany; there truly is no place like home,” she continued. “The first shows I ever played were here at local venues like QE2, Bogies, and Valentines. My mom used to bring me to SPAC to see iconic acts like Tina Turner and Stevie Nicks. This is where I come from, my roots, and where my family still resides. Regardless of my accomplishments or where I go, this will always be the most significant aspect of my life.”

Brink’s attachment to Albany extends beyond sentimental value. Her son Davion Brink is the owner of Etrice Gallery in Colonie Center. To celebrate her roots and connect with fans, Maria will be hosting a pop-up event at Etrice Gallery this Sunday, marking the first collaborative event between her son’s store and In This Moment.

From noon to 5 p.m., Etrice Gallery will transform into an In This Moment pop-up storefront. The event will feature a raffle for a band-signed guitar, exclusive merchandise and posters, and a meet-and-greet with the entire group. Maria also plans to create a “museum-type area” showcasing her designed costumes and props used in the band’s music videos and tours.

“We’ve never attempted a pop-up event before, but we thought it would be a fantastic idea to merge my son’s store with In This Moment for an afternoon,” she shared. “It’s incredibly exciting for us to do this here, where my journey began. We have many extraordinary surprises planned.”

The commitment to making each endeavor feel special has been a part of Brink’s life since childhood. In her younger years, she organized theater productions in her community, designing flyers and distributing flowers to neighbors who attended. With In This Moment, Brink has focused on creating visually captivating experiences. She has taken a hands-on approach to concept creation, directing their music videos, and designing elaborate live performances.

“I’m passionate about visuals and the theatrical elements,” she explained. “I’m involved in every aspect, from lighting to costumes to the precise moment when the pyrotechnics ignite on stage. I strive to incorporate all the elements of a grand show, making each performance feel unique.”

However, Brink emphasizes that music remains the cornerstone of their artistry. “The music is still the most crucial aspect,” she added. “It serves as the heartbeat of everything we do.”

In line with their dedication to music, In This Moment is preparing to release a new album titled “Godmode” on October 27. The band recently unveiled a music video for the lead single, “The Purge,” and has incorporated it, along with another unreleased track called “Sacrifice,” into their current tour’s setlist. Brink is proud of the forthcoming record, describing it as “the most visceral and heaviest” they have produced since their breakthrough album, “Blood,” in 2013. She is encouraged by the positive response these new songs have received from fans.

“I’ve been eager to introduce something new on tour, which is why we’re performing two of the new songs live,” she revealed. “The fans are responding incredibly well to ‘The Purge,’ and even though the other new song hasn’t been officially released, I can already see fans singing along. It fills my heart with gratitude for our dedicated fanbase.”

Once the Albany show and pop-up event conclude, Brink will shift her focus to the release of “Godmode.” With In This Moment receiving a Grammy nomination in 2021 for a track from their previous album and their music being featured in the popular film “John Wick: Chapter 4,” Brink is hopeful that the band’s commercial success will continue with this new record. To support the album, In This Moment has already planned a fall arena tour.

Brink has high hopes for the upcoming months, aiming to surpass the accomplishments of this summer. However, she emphasizes the importance of maintaining a hunger for growth and always setting new goals.

“I’ve always harbored big dreams,” she shared. “While I’m grateful for where the band currently stands, we haven’t quite reached our ultimate goal yet. We’re like the little engine that could, playing larger venues and securing better slots in concerts.”

“I appreciate our current success, and everything is incredibly thrilling,” Brink concluded. “But I want us to keep expanding, to continually strive for something bigger and more exciting. We’re gradually moving towards that place I envisioned, but it’s essential to maintain that hunger and always build upon what we’re doing.”
