In the fourth watch of the night, Jesus went to his disciples by walking on the sea. When the disciples saw him, they were troubled and thought he was a ghost. They cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately reassured them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.”
Peter then responded to Jesus, saying, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” Jesus told Peter to come, and Peter stepped out of the boat and walked on the water towards Jesus. However, when Peter saw the strong wind, he became afraid and started to sink. He cried out to Jesus, “Lord, save me!”
Jesus immediately reached out his hand and caught Peter, saying, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” These verses are from the Gospel of Matthew, one of the synoptic Gospels in the New Testament.

The apostles, who were experienced fishermen, found themselves in serious danger during the storm and were fearful for their lives. Jesus, who was praying on a mountain, walked towards them on water to help them. He told them to be of good cheer and not to be afraid, even in such dire circumstances.
Peter, showing both hesitation and faith, asked Jesus to command him to walk on water. Jesus agreed, and Peter actually walked on water for a brief moment. However, Peter’s fear caused him to lose faith and begin to sink. Jesus caught him and questioned his doubt.
Doubt is a faith killer and a common tactic used by the enemy to deceive believers, as seen in the story of Eve in the Book of Genesis. However, the story ends on a positive note as the wind stops when Jesus enters the boat. The lesson from this story is that it is better to face storms with Jesus by our side than to face them alone. Storms are inevitable in life, but they can draw us closer to Jesus if we trust in Him.
