Houston Texans Pro Bowler Laremy Tunsil thrilled by the fresh energy rookie C.J. Stroud adds to the team

The Houston Texans have undergone significant changes this offseason in their quest to turn around their recent string of losses. In January, DeMeco Ryans was named the Texans’ head coach, and in April, they drafted former Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud. These moves have breathed new life into offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil and given him hope for the future of the team.

“It’s a whole new vibe, man,” Tunsil expressed during a recent interview with “The Pat McAfee Show.”

The Texans took a bold approach during the offseason by drafting Stroud and executing a trade to secure the No. 3 overall pick. With this pick, they selected former Alabama standout Will Anderson Jr.

Tunsil credits Ryans’ arrival for helping the team break free from their previous struggles.

“DeMeco came in with a fresh energy, brought from San Fran, and completely transformed the atmosphere within the building. It’s exactly what we needed, especially after the past three years of being stuck in a rut. DeMeco’s arrival brought in new coaches, and we have some new players now too. It’s a whole new vibe, and it feels great to be part of it.”

While the Texans’ training camp is still a few weeks away, Tunsil is already impressed with Stroud’s potential. The team is hopeful that Stroud can be their long-term solution at the quarterback position, considering they have gone through five different quarterbacks in the past three seasons.

“He’s handling himself extremely well. He came in with incredible leadership skills, and he’s killing it. C.J. is a dog. He’s ready to work, leads the huddle perfectly, and performs on the field. You’ve got to appreciate that, especially from a young quarterback like C.J.”

The Texans won only three games last season and finished last in their division. However, Tunsil has been a consistent performer since joining the team in 2019, earning three Pro Bowl honors in the past four seasons. He started as a tackle in all 17 games of the 2022 season.

Looking ahead, the Texans will kick off the 2023 season with a game against the Baltimore Ravens on September 10. Despite their previous struggles, Tunsil remains hopeful for a brighter future.
