House-to-House Visits Made by Suspected Stalker of Drew Barrymore

A man has been charged with fourth-degree stalking after allegedly going from house to house in Drew Barrymore’s Long Island neighborhood looking for the star’s home. The suspect, Chad Michael Busto, 43, was arrested by police in Southampton just before midnight on Thursday following reports from area residents. According to NBC News, Busto had been briefly detained earlier in the day. Police received 911 calls stating that he was riding a bicycle into private driveways and claiming to be searching for Drew Barrymore’s residence. The New York Post reports that Busto even made it to the steps of Barrymore’s home, although she was not there at the time.

It is suspected that Busto’s actions are a result of previous incidents involving the actor. One such incident occurred on Monday night when Busto rushed toward the stage at a Manhattan venue where Barrymore was being interviewed by singer Renée Rapp. According to Deadline, Busto shouted, “Drew Barrymore! I’m Chad Michael Busto. You know who I am. I need to see you at some point while you’re in New York.” Rapp quickly helped Barrymore off stage and Busto was apprehended by security guards before he could climb onto the stage.

The Santa Monica Daily Press reports that Busto has a lengthy arrest record, including a 2009 arrest for breaking into an old bus station in Santa Monica. He has also been arrested for disorderly conduct and trespassing in multiple states, including Georgia, Texas, Minnesota, Florida, and Wisconsin. According to the Daily Beast, Busto has a history of obsession with female celebrities, including Amber Heard.

This incident highlights the importance of celebrity privacy and the potential dangers that can arise from obsessive behavior. Authorities are taking swift action to ensure the safety and well-being of Drew Barrymore and other individuals who may be the target of such stalking incidents.
