HGTV’s Unforeseen Loss: Brady Bunch House Sold to Dedicated Superfan

The “Brady Bunch” house will now have fewer inhabitants after its recent sale. This five-bedroom, five-bathroom home in North Hollywood, outside of Los Angeles, has been sold for $3.2 million to Tina Trahan, a superfan of the show and wife of former HBO chief executive Chris Albrecht.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the sale price is $2.3 million less than the $5.5 million asking price set by HGTV when the home went on the market in May. HGTV had purchased the property in 2019 for $3.5 million and invested almost $2 million in renovations for its series, “A Very Brady Renovation,” hosted by Drew and Jonathan Scott.

What will happen to ‘The Brady Bunch’ house now?

Trahan, a collector of unique homes, revealed that she plans to primarily use the house for fundraising and charitable events.

“Nobody will live in it,” she stated. “No one will be cooking pork chops and applesauce in that kitchen. Any attempt to make the house livable would detract from what I consider a work of art.”

On the HGTV show, the Scott brothers collaborated with the stars of “The Brady Bunch” to recreate the iconic details of the house, which served as the focal point of the show during its run from 1969 to 1974.

USA TODAY has reached out to HGTV for further comments.

Trahan believes that HGTV overpaid for the house in 2018, during a bidding war with former NSYNC member Lance Bass. According to WSJ, homes on that block in Studio City are typically priced between $1 million and $3 million.

The house remains an exact replica of the ’70s sitcom, including “the iconic floating staircase, the burnt orange-and-avocado green kitchen, the kids’ Jack-n-Jill bathroom, and a backyard with a swing set, teeter-totter, and Tiger’s dog house,” as mentioned by HGTV.
