On his Instagram, Pennington, age 58, shared the details of his hospitalization, including photos of himself intubated. Reflecting on his week, he began his social media post by saying, “From the red carpet to the ICU… this last week has been quite interesting!” The star of “Trading Places” explained that a few days after attending the “Barbie” premiere, he woke up at 4 am struggling to breathe. It turned out that the sore throat he had been dealing with for the past month was actually a large abscess that was closing off his airway. He was intubated and transported to the ICU in Denver. Pennington underwent surgery on Wednesday and was released from the Intensive Care Unit on Thursday afternoon. He expressed that he is still in the recovery process and extended his gratitude to the hospital staff. In addition to revealing his health scare, he shared a series of photos capturing the events that unfolded during the week. One photo showed him giving a thumbs-up while lying in a hospital bed with wires connected to his hospital gown. Another showed him intubated at the Denver hospital, and the last one showed him relaxing in a chair, pointing at the camera while holding a hospital cup.
