Hamas Executes Ambush Strategies with Unprecedented Preparedness in Targeted Town Assaults

Hamas militants recently breached the border between Gaza and Israel with a well-planned attack. According to the Wall Street Journal, these militants had detailed maps of Israeli towns and neighborhoods that they raided. The recovered documents indicate that their targets were not only military bases but also civilian areas where they could take hostages. This level of planning is unprecedented for Hamas.

A troubling example of their planning is a document that details the layout of a small community, called Mefalsim. It includes information about the number of civilians present and instructions on how to quickly take hostages before Israeli soldiers could arrive. Another map found on a slain militant’s vest marked “places with crowds, synagogues, and kindergartens” in the town of Ofakim. Residents of northern Gaza have been ordered to evacuate to the south, while Hamas has told them to stay put. The Israeli military is preparing for a ground invasion, and the US has pledged military assistance.
