MANILA, Philippines–Gary Tamayo and Joseph Ambo will compete for the interim Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) super bantamweight title in the upcoming event called Blow-by-Blow, presented by Manny Pacquiao on Saturday at Mandaluyong College of Science and Technology Gymnasium.
The 14-fight card also features a super lightweight bout between Ali Canega of the Elorde Fight team and Jhunback Carcedo of Sanman Boxing of General Santos City.
Both Tamayo and Ambo successfully made weight during the official weigh-in on Friday, tipping the scales at 121.8 pounds.
Manny Pacquiao, who revived the popular television boxing show almost a year ago, is using the program to provide Filipino boxers with the opportunity to showcase their talent.
“I can relate to them because I used to fight under the Blow-By-Blow banner,” Pacquiao said, emphasizing his commitment to support the search for the country’s next boxing champion.
Blow-by-Blow returns after a successful show in Narvacan, Ilocos Sur last month, where Al Tiyogon claimed the Philippine Boxing Federation lightweight belt with a majority decision win over Rimar Metuda.
