The Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation announced on Wednesday the unfortunate passing of “Here Comes Trouble,” a senior female bison at William S. Hart Park in Newhall.
Regarded lovingly as “Here Comes Trouble” or simply “Trouble,” she was one of the oldest and most spirited members of the bison herd residing in the park, according to county officials. She passed away over the weekend.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Trouble, a cherished member of the William S. Hart Park family,” stated Norma Garcia-Gonzalez, Director of County Parks. “For 35 years, Trouble was a part of our L.A. County Parks family and her presence will be greatly missed.”
Trouble was born in William S. Hart Park on April 12, 1988. Known for her spirited nature, she often engaged in disputes with fellow members of her herd, as confirmed by park officials.
With a playful disposition, Trouble sometimes challenged park staff by boldly approaching their trucks during feeding time.
Park visitors and staff members held a special affection for her, often exclaiming “Here comes Trouble” whenever they spotted her approaching.
“Trouble brought immense joy to everyone she encountered. Her vibrant personality always shone through, and her mischievous behavior never failed to put a smile on the faces of park visitors and staff,” expressed Supervisor Kathryn Barger.
Ten bison currently remain in William S. Hart Park, where the bison herd has been an important historical and cultural asset since 1962.
