GOP Senator Criticizes House Republican’s Prayer for ‘Limited’ Majority

Senator Tom Cotton, a Republican from Arkansas, strongly criticized Representative Matt Rosendale, a member of the House Freedom Caucus from Montana, after reports emerged that Rosendale had secretly been “praying” for a small House majority before the 2022 midterm elections.

“So, Representative Matt Rosendale from Maryland prays for Democrats to win elections? Did his prayers work in 2018 when he was humiliated by Jon Tester?” Cotton wrote on X day, mere hours after Rosendale joined seven other GOP lawmakers in voting to remove former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, a Republican from California.

“This is just one of many, many reasons why Representative Rosendale will never come close to the Senate,” Cotton added, taunting him further as news circulated that Rosendale is considering running for Senate in 2024 after his failed bid in 2018.

On Tuesday, Fox News Digital acquired a video of Rosendale attending a private meeting with conservative donors in 2022. In the video, Rosendale is heard saying, “When many people were voting for a large Republican majority of 270, 280 in the House, I was praying every night for a small majority, because I knew that a small majority was the only way we could push forward with a conservative agenda.” The video, first reported by The Messenger, was described as a “virtual briefing for around 50 top conservative donors.”

“If we had the right majority, with six or seven strong individuals, we could bring the conference to the right,” Rosendale added.
