Google Pixel 8 Phones: Massive Design Upgrades Leaked Online Just 48 Hours Before Launch Event!

Could Google Take Inspiration from Apple for its Upcoming Smartphone?

Leaked photos on Facebook suggest that the Pixel 8 Pro, Google’s upcoming flagship smartphone, may have a matte glass finish on the back, similar to the design of Apple’s new iPhone 15. These leaked images also indicate that the Pixel 8 series will have curvier and more rounded edges than the previous Pixel 7 model.

Google recently acknowledged the existence of the Pixel 8 by sharing an image and a short teaser video, but has yet to provide further details. However, all will be revealed at the ‘Made by Google’ unveiling event on October 4th.

The leaked photos, originally posted on the Vietnamese fan site Vật Vờ Studio and later published by 9to5google, show the Pixel 8 Pro and its packaging in what appears to be a factory setting. This has led to speculation that the photos were taken recently during final quality checks before the official launch.

The images reveal that the Pixel 8 packaging will include a USB-C to USB-C cable and a Quick Switch adapter, making data transfer from another phone effortless. Furthermore, the pictures strongly suggest that the new Pixel 8 Pro will be available in the grey Hazel color option.

Similar to Apple’s promotional teaser, the Pixel 8 will feature the iconic ‘cyclops-style’ camera bar across the width of the device.

Rumors also suggest that the regular Pixel 8 will have a slightly smaller display, 6.17 inches compared to the Pro model’s 6.7 inches. Both models are expected to be equipped with Google’s new processing chip, Tensor G3, which promises significant performance and capability upgrades.

The Tensor G3 chip will power AI and machine learning features on the Pixel 8 cameras. These features, which are already prominent in Google’s phone advertisements, include Photo Unblur, which uses machine learning to eliminate blur and visual noise from both new and old photos with just a few taps. Another feature, Magic Eraser, removes undesired subjects from photos, such as random strangers in the background.

While these AI tools have been praised for their capabilities, some critics have labeled them as ‘Orwellian’ due to their potential to distort reality.

As for pricing, the Pixel 8 is expected to have a slight price increase compared to its predecessor, with a starting price of £699/$699, while the Pro model is expected to maintain the same price. However, this is still considerably less expensive than the Pixel Fold, Google’s foldable phone that was released in June with a hefty price tag of £1,749.

Interestingly, the launch of the Pixel Fold means that Apple is now the only major smartphone manufacturer yet to release a foldable phone. However, some iPhone fans have created a prototype that envisions what a foldable iPhone might look like.

The prototype, called iPhone V, was built by engineers using an iPhone X and the folding mechanism from Motorola’s Razr. The ‘iPhone V’ folds down a central hinge in the screen, similar to other foldable phones currently on the market. It features silver iPhone lettering on the hinge and the iconic Apple logo on the back.

In conclusion, Google’s upcoming Pixel 8 series appears to take some design cues from Apple’s iPhone 15, with a matte glass finish on the back and curvier edges. The Pixel 8 phones are expected to feature Google’s latest Tensor G3 chip, allowing for improved performance and enhanced AI capabilities. While the pricing is slightly higher than previous models, it remains competitive in the market. It will be interesting to see how the Pixel 8 series performs and how it compares to Apple’s offerings.
