Global Ferronickel Expands Operations to Include Cement Production and Value-Added Processing

In an effort to harness significant growth potential, Global Ferronickel Holdings Inc. has announced plans to expand into cement manufacturing and value-added processing. Dante Bravo, the president of Global Ferronickel, revealed that the company intends to produce limestone, clinker, and other materials used in the cement industry. This move will allow the company to tap into the construction and infrastructure sectors, which offer substantial growth opportunities. Additionally, Global Ferronickel plans to establish various processing facilities, including a ferronickel processing plant, nickel matte processing facility, battery-grade nickel plant, and a steel plant. These processing capabilities will enable the company to enhance the value of its nickel products by transforming them into higher grade materials that cater to specific industry needs. The establishment of a battery-grade nickel plant and a steel plant further signifies the company’s commitment to capitalizing on emerging opportunities in the electric vehicle (EV) and infrastructure sectors.

According to Dante Bravo, the outlook for nickel is promising due to its wide range of applications in the energy transition. Nickel has been identified by the World Bank as a critical mineral in the clean energy transition. Bravo also highlighted China’s influence on nickel demand and the projected resurgence of construction activity and demand for stainless steel as the economy reopens and the country invests in infrastructure. Nickel is considered cross-cutting as it is used in various technologies and is not limited to a single application. This includes its use in electric vehicles, solar panels, power grid systems, wind turbines, and emerging technologies such as hydrogen-based energy.

Additionally, Global Ferronickel aims to expand its logistics business in Mariveles, Bataan, which involves developing warehousing facilities and container terminal services. This expansion will improve efficiency, reduce costs, and strengthen the company’s integrated services position.
