  • “I truly believe that my destiny is to become a star,” Gonzales confidently shared with The Post.

An enlisted soldier in the US Army gained viral fame on TikTok by creating videos that humorously depict the behavior of Gen Z individuals within military contexts. Now, Anthony Gonzales, aged 21, aspires to become an influencer.

Gonzales stated, “I have a strong desire to be an influencer. I want to continue creating videos, and I’m also interested in pursuing modeling,” in an interview with The New York Post.

According to The Post, Gonzales currently serves as a petroleum supply specialist at the US National Guard Fort Chaffee Regional Training Center in Arkansas.

This Gen Z soldier experienced a surge in popularity on TikTok when his initial video, titled “Gen Z on the battlefield,” went viral in August 2021.

In this 21-second compilation video, Gonzales, dressed in military gear, playfully parodies common stereotypes associated with Gen Z behavior through military-inspired skits.

Gonzales can be heard saying, “I’m in the ghetto, ra-ta-ta-ta,” while pretending to film himself with a phone as background gunshots sound. He also performs a dance routine while reciting “Renegade, renegade, renegade… Oh grenade,” referencing a popular TikTok dance.

The TikTok video, captioned “It’s me, I’m Gen Z,” has garnered over 22.5 million views and 5.1 million likes.

Another TikTok video from his “Gen Z on the battlefield” series has already amassed 7.1 million views and 1.3 million likes since its upload in May.

This particular video, captioned “serving while serving” with US Flag and painted fingernails emojis, depicts Gonzales theatrically portraying a Gen Z individual on the field.

In the clip, Gonzales exclaims, “Girl, guess what? I just got kidnapped. I’m calling you through my Apple Watch.” He further adds, “Getting attacked? Oh, that’s not really my thing, you know what I’m saying? Hey, Siri, call an Uber.”

While Gonzales initially intended to pursue a military career, he now envisions himself as an influencer once his Army contract expires in two years.

Gonzales shared with The Post, “Although I didn’t anticipate experiencing significant follower growth and viewership, I truly believe I am destined for this path and possess immense untapped potential.”

According to The Post, Gonzales earns up to $1,500 for each TikTok video he uploads. Currently, he has a following of over 367,700 on his TikTok channel; however, this is only the beginning of his journey.

Gonzales and the US Army have not yet responded to Insider’s requests for comments outside of regular working hours.
