Gal Gadot discusses her audition process for the role she will be playing in Disney’s “Snow White” remake, emphasizing that it was her first audition in a while.
“Since this is a musical, they needed to ensure that I could sing. Therefore, I spent an entire month practicing the song before the audition. We filmed the song and that’s how I landed the part,” Gadot revealed in an interview with GQ, which took place prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike.
In the upcoming live-action reimagining of Disney’s first full-length animated movie, Gadot will portray the Evil Queen, while Rachel Zegler takes on the role of Snow White.
This opportunity to play a villain excites Gadot, who is usually cast as a heroine. She describes the experience as “very exciting” and different from anything she has ever done before. Gadot expresses her anticipation for audiences to witness her portrayal in this movie, describing the role as “delicious and delightful”.
In order to fully embody the character, Gadot revealed that she altered her voice for the role, a detail she discussed with Vogue Hong Kong.
During Disney’s D23 Expo in 2022, the first footage of Gadot as the Evil Queen was shown, with viewers noting a striking resemblance. Gadot expressed her enthusiasm for stepping into the shoes and getting under the skin of the iconic villain.
Gadot admits that she may have become too immersed in her character during the first week of filming, as people began avoiding her and approaching her assistant instead, mistaking her for the mean-spirited Evil Queen.
“It was so not me,” Gadot commented at the time.
“Snow White” is scheduled for release on March 22, 2024.
