The Palm Springs Art Museum has an exciting summer event called the “Cocktail Cinema” film series, offering specially crafted cocktails and movies. Running every Thursday from June 15 to July 27, the film series will showcase four films with iconic soundtracks that reflect their time and place. Each movie will be paired with a unique concoction prepared by That’s The Spirit Mobile Bar. Moviegoers can secure their admission by registering in advance at store.psmuseum.org/cocktail-cinema/.
The first film of the series, “Queen and Slim” will start at 6 pm at the Palm Springs Art Museum, 101 North Museum Drive. The story follows a young black couple pulled over for a minor traffic violation following their first date, with the situation escalating when a white policeman is killed and they are forced to flee. The film’s soundtrack features various artists that honor the history and diversity of black music, continuing the legacy of artists who used their music as activism.
To fully indulge in the film experience, attendees are encouraged to arrive an hour early to purchase and enjoy the specialty drinks before the event. The film series will continue with “Pulp Fiction” on June 29, “Moonlight” on July 13, and “Selena” on July 27. The Palm Springs International Film Festival is presenting the film series, and free admission to the museum is offered from 5 pm to 8 pm on Thursday nights. Experience the perfect fusion of movies and cocktails with the “Cocktail Cinema” film series at the Palm Springs Art Museum.
