Actor Evan Ellingson, famously known for his role in My Sister’s Keeper, has passed away at the age of 35, as reported by Deadline. He was found deceased on Sunday in his Fontana, California home, according to the San Bernardino County sheriff coroner’s office. Ellingson’s father apparently spoke to TMZ, revealing that his son was in a sober-living home. Director of My Sister’s Keeper, Nick Cassavetes, remembered the former child star in an emotional post, writing, “My soul is crushed today. What a kid.” Apart from playing Abigail Breslin’s sibling in the 2009 film, Ellingson also portrayed two different Kyles on TV: Kyle Harmon in CSI Miami and Kyle Savage on Complete Savages. He also took on the role of Jack Bauer’s nephew, Josh Bauer, in season six of 24. Ellingson retired from acting in 2010.
Star of My Sister’s Keeper, Abigail Breslin, paid tribute to the late actor via Instagram, mourning the loss of her co-star and asking the public not to speculate about the details of his death. “Evan Ellingson was a kind, funny and extremely talented human being,” she wrote. “He played my big brother in a film I did called My Sister’s Keeper. Evan was a genuinely thoughtful person who cared so much about turning in the best performance, which he accomplished. Some of his scenes in MSK still give me chills.”
Before asking the public not to “speculate on the details of his passing,” Breslin added one final note. “Evan, I know Heaven will welcome you with open arms,” she captioned the photo of the young Sister’s Keeper castmates. “Your time on this Earth may have been, devastatingly, short. Your humor, exuberance, kindness and bright light will linger forever. Sending you peace on your journey to the great beyond and who knows… maybe one day, I’ll meet you in Montana.”
