Fisker has recently begun delivering its inaugural electric SUV, the Ocean, and already has plans for future vehicle releases. The next addition to its lineup will go head-to-head with Tesla’s Cybertruck, Ford’s F-150 Lightning, and Rivian’s R1T: the Fisker Alaska.
During a product event in Huntington Beach, California, CEO Henrik Fisker introduced the Fisker Alaska. This compact four-door pickup truck features an extendable bed that can go from 4.5 feet to 7.5 feet and even up to 9.2 feet when the Houdini bed-cabin divider is lowered.
According to CEO Fisker, the Alaska’s extendable bed allows it to transform from a compact into a midsize pickup. Its design is reminiscent of the rounded edges seen in Rivian vehicles, but its size is more similar to the Hyundai Santa Cruz. The interior of the Alaska includes a large cup holder, reclaimed wood paneling, and even a cowboy hat holder.
Fisker claims that the Alaska will have a range of 230 to 340 miles and will be the lightest EV pickup on the market. It will also incorporate more recycled and bio-based materials, aligning with the sustainability goals set by the Ocean.
How Much is the Fisker Alaska? When Will It Be Available?
The starting price for the Fisker Alaska is expected to be around $45,400, with deliveries slated for 2025. It will be built on a modified version of the Fisker Ocean’s platform, known as FM31.
Reservations for the Alaska are now open online, with the initial reservation costing $250 and subsequent reservations priced at $100. These reservations are fully refundable.
UPDATE Thursday, Aug. 17: Fisker has released more details (and photos) about the Alaska pickup. It will be available in two battery pack sizes: 75 kWh or 113 kWh, offering a range of 230 to 340 miles based on the different packs. The faster model is expected to go from zero to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds, while the slower model will accomplish the same feat in 7.2 seconds. The Alaska will be equipped with either 20- or 22-inch wheels.
Interior photos showcase the backseat and unique features like the cowboy hat holder. Other creative storage solutions include a center armrest for small items and a passenger tray that can hold a tablet.
Production of the Alaska is scheduled to begin in the United States in the first quarter of 2025, making it eligible for federal tax subsidies.
